Dihydroberberine

A more bioavailable derivative of Berberine, requiring a much smaller dose to achieve comparable metabolic support.

Clinical Profile

Dihydroberberine (commonly sold under the branded form GlucoVantage) is a reduced form of Berberine that converts to Berberine in the intestinal lining. Because of this conversion mechanism, it is absorbed considerably more efficiently than standard Berberine HCL, allowing for a fraction of the dose while targeting the same AMPK-activation pathway.

Clinical Summary

Clinical and pharmacokinetic data indicate Dihydroberberine is up to roughly 5 times more bioavailable than standard Berberine HCL, allowing lower doses while reducing the gastrointestinal burden associated with high-dose Berberine.

Dosage Guidelines

100mg to 200mg daily, generally divided into 1-2 doses with meals.

Safety & Side Effects

Better tolerated than standard Berberine HCL, with a lower incidence of gastrointestinal discomfort due to the reduced dose required.

Known Interactions

Shares the same theoretical interaction profile as Berberine, including CYP3A4 enzyme inhibition; use caution with blood thinners, statins, and hypoglycemic medications.
