Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a bioactive compound formed during the digestion of indole-3-carbinol, found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli. DIM actively modulates estrogen metabolism in the liver. It shifts the enzymatic breakdown of estrogen away from the highly proliferative 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone pathway and towards the more protective and benign 2-hydroxyestrone pathway, mitigating systemic symptoms of estrogen dominance.
