Leucine

A branched-chain essential amino acid that is the primary trigger of the mTOR pathway responsible for activating muscle protein synthesis.

Leucine is one of the three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and is considered the key signaling amino acid for initiating muscle protein synthesis via activation of the mTOR pathway.

Extensively studied for its central role in triggering post-exercise muscle protein synthesis; considered the most anabolically potent of the essential amino acids.

Dosage Guidelines

Approximately 2g to 3g per dose is generally considered sufficient to maximally stimulate muscle protein synthesis.

Safety & Side Effects

Very well tolerated at recommended doses; excessive long-term intake in isolation may create an amino acid imbalance.

No major known drug interactions at supplemental doses.
