Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia) is an adaptogenic botanical studied for its effect on cortisol, a stress hormone that can suppress testosterone production when chronically elevated, as well as for direct support of healthy testosterone levels.

Clinical Summary

A 6-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial found Tongkat Ali increased testosterone levels in nearly half of participants with androgen deficiency of aging, with larger gains when combined with resistance training; a separate 12-week multicenter study found improved testosterone and quality-of-life scores versus placebo.

Dosage Guidelines

200mg daily of a standardized extract.

Safety & Side Effects

Generally well tolerated; mild insomnia or restlessness reported occasionally.

May have additive effects with other testosterone-support ingredients or hormone-related medications; consult a physician if on hormone therapy.
